The amazing looking Kangyatze is the most obvious peak in the Markha Valley. It might be moved closer through the Makha Valley from either side. It has 2 summits, the lower western summit, Kangyatse II is at 6250m and is frequently submitted meanwhile, it isn’t at all crowded like the neighboring Stok Kangri. It is perfect for people who should need to climb their underlying 6000m and should need to dodge the gatherings. The Markha valley offers the perfect acclimatization trek required for rising a 6000m mountain. On a fresh morning you viewpoints of view as far Nun Kun and Zanskar goes in the West and the K2.

Day 1:

Leh drive to Chilling (3,190m/ 10,465ft) trek Skyu (3,370m) 3-4 hours

You drive from Leh to Chilling, cross the chilling bridge and start your trek to the next village skyu. Highlight from the day is Sangam(confluence of Indus and Zanskar river)beautiful village of Chilling. Its an easy start to the trek. You stop for the night at skyu village.

Day 2:

Skyu to Markha Valley (3,770m/ 12,368ft) trek 6-7 hours

Today will be one of the long walks, though the trail is not very difficult, gradually going up and down, beautiful and amazing sceneries all around. Passing through the villages of Sara and Chalak we reach Markha village.

Day 3:

Markha to Hankar (4,040m/ 13,254ft) trek 4-5 hours

The trail crosses two streams past Markha, and afterward, we come to the delightful Techa Gompa sitting wonderfully on the highest point of the slope. The town of Umlung has a tea tent hanging tight for you before you proceed with your trek further. You get your first perspective of the powerful Kangyatse before you achieve the village of Hankar.

Day 4:

Hankar to Base camp (5,099/ 16,732ft) trek 5-6 hours

We continue following the same trail where we left the earlier day. You can get a sight of the demolished castle as soon you achieve the upper part of the village. You keep hiking on the same trail till we reach Thachungste camp. The trail goes up from here till we achieve base camp.

Day 5:

Acclimatisation & Training day

Today we make a beeline for High Camp with our specialized apparatus and summit loads. We will go through the day on the glacier figuring out how to rope up and use crampons and ice tomahawks to get on the ice. Later we come back to base camp.

Day 6:

Base camp to Summit (6,200m/ 20,341ft) to base camp trek 12-13 hours

You will wake up at midnight, eat and begin by 1:00 am. After a short 100m scale the moraine edge, we rope up and enter the ice sheet. We will navigate the north face toward the northwest edge while consistently climbing upwards. When we move around the northwest edge, we climb straight over a rough outcropping and pursue the edge to the summit. Beginning at 1:00 am, we will hope to the summit around 7:00 am. We will come back to base camp after the summit push.

Day 7:

Base camp to Nimaling (4,840m/ 15,879ft)

Today we head back over the rough edge that conveyed you to Base Camp and comes back to Nimaling. The present trek is short with just an underlying drop, taking 2-3 hours. Make the most of your restful evening in Nimaling, you've earned it!

Day 8:

Nimaling crossing Kongmaru La (5,130m/16,830ft) to Chogdo (3,910m/ 12,828ft) Shang Sumdo (3,680m) trek 7/8 hours drive Leh 1 hour

From Nimaling is a gradual ascent till Kongmaru La, enjoy the beauty of Kangyatse and the Karakoram range for one last time, from here descend down to Shang gorge which is quite steep. Crossing the small river a couple of times before we reach Shang Sumdo, we have the option of getting picked up from Chogdo village as the roads have been built till the village. We drive back to Leh.
