Lamayuru to chilling trek takes you through remote villages, It’s a moderate trek if we look at it. The valley across the Kongskil La the highest pass on this route. You might be greeted by shepherds from Hinju who make butter and cheese. The trek crosses mainly three passes each offering amazing and spectacular view of the Stok range and the landscape.

Day 1:

Lamayuru (3,510/ 11,515ft) crossing Prinkti La (3,740m/ 12,270ft) to Wanla (3,150m/ 10,334) trek 3-4 hours

Today you drive to Lamayuru about 4 hours journey and start off by visiting the famous Lamayuru Monastery, from here you start trekking crossing the Prinkti la and hike through the village of Shilla to the reach your first stop at the beautiful village of Wanla.

Day 2:

Wanla to Hinju (3,780m/ 12,401) trek 5-6 hours

Follow the same trail where you left the previous day and head to next destination the village of Hinju. Enjoying the scenic beauty as you pass along the river.

Day 3:

Hinju crossing Kongskil La (4,952m/ 16,246ft) to Sumda Doksa (4,428m/ 14,527) trek 6-7 hours

You will be crossing the highest point of the trek today, the Kongskil la pass, where we get to catch a glimpse of the Stok range and the Karakoram peaks. After this, we head down to Sumda Doksa for dinner & overnight stay.

Day 4:

Sumda Doksa to Base of Dung Dung Chan La (4,430m/ 14,534ft) trek 6-7 hours

This day you head off to the base of the Dung Dung chan la, after walking for some time you will be in the main village on this trek, Sumda Chenmo. The trail now leads to the base so it will be ascending from here till the base of Dung Dung Chan la where camp for the night.

Day 5:

Base of Dung Dung Chan La - Dung Dung Chan La (4,594m/ 15,072ft) to Chilling (3,190m/ 10,465ft) trek 3-4 hours drive to Leh 1 and half hour.

Today you will have an amazing view once you are on the top of Dung Dung Chan La, from here you can see the trail leading to chilling the last stop of the trek. Chilling is famous for traditional metal handicrafts, which are the pride of every Ladakhi Kitchen in the villages. The people of Chilling have a great reputation for their traditional skills in working copper, silver, bronze and believe themselves to be descendants of Nepalese craftsman brought to work for the King of Ladakh in ancient times. You may visit one of their showrooms and their work, later you drive back to Leh.
