This is an adventurous and challenging trek crossing 8 passes of which the highest is Parang La (5,080m). This trekking route will take you through high altitude plateau with a spectacular view of the panoramic landscape in southeastern Ladakh and enchanting Lahoul and Spiti in Himachal Pradesh. This trek was the ancient trade route between Ladakh and Spiti. Enjoy the panoramic view of Tsomoriri and Tsokar lake, meet the nomads of Changthang region and see wild animals such as Wild ass (Skyang), marmots and migratory birds.

Day 1:

Leh drive to Rumtse (4,100m/ 13,451ft) en route visit Thiksey and Hemis monastery 80 km/ 2-3 hours

You will drive to Rumtse, located 80 km from Leh, en route visit Thiksey & Hemis monastery, after visiting Hemis you will come back to Kharu and continue drive to Hemis. You will pass through Upshi, Gya & Meru village before reaching Rumtse. On reaching you will be welcome with tea & snacks at the campsite. Rest of the day is at leisure at the campsite.

Day 2:

Rumtse (4,100m/ 13451ft) to Kyamar (4,538m/ 14,888ft) trek 4 hours

Today it will be your fist day of walking, begin by gradually ascending the valley of Kyamer enjoying the beautiful landscape along the trail. Arrive Kyamar in the afternoon.

Day 3:

Kyamar crossing Kyamar La (5,080m/ 16,66ft) to Mandalchan La (5,206m/ 17,080ft) to Tisaling (4,940m/ 16,207ft) trek 6-7 hours

Start your day earlier today as it will be a long day and you will be crossing 2 passes. You will start the day off by ascending the Kyamar La which has an amazing view of the snow covered peaks, surrounding mountains, and the Indus river. From here you descend towards Tin Doksa and continue the trail to Tisaling after crossing Mandalchan La the second peak of the day. Arrive Tisaling in the evening, hot tea & snacks, noodles will be ready by the time you reach the campsite.

Day 4:

Tisaling - Shibuk La (5,270m/ 17,290ft) to Ponganagu (4,652m/ 15,262 ft) trek 6 hours

Trek towards Shibuk La, once on the top gives us an amazing view of the Tsokar lake and the mighty and beautiful mountains guarding it. We head down the trail towards Ponganagu, a small camping base. We stop for the night here, if we reach early we can catch a sight of the wild animals there i.e kiang (Tibetan wild ass) and some migratory birds like a black-necked crane to name a few.

Day 5:

Ponganagu to Nuruchan (4,678m/ 15,347ft) trek 4-5 hours

Today will be trekking along the salt lake as the name means white lake (Tsokar), you can see salt that’s formed around the lake. After leaving the lake behind, you begin entering Nuruchan village and camp for the night.

Day 6:

Nuruchan to Kyamayuri La (5,416m/ 17,769ft) to Gyamar Barma (5,195m/ 16,925ft) trek 7-8 hour

Today will be yet another long and hard day yet exciting, we will be passing through a small pass Horlam Kongka La and Kyamayuri La to get our next stop to the beautiful Gyamar Barma.

Day 7:

Gyamar Barma to Kartse La (5,384m/ 17,664ft) to Gyamar (5,158m/ 16,992ft) trek 3-4 hours

Today will be a short day, after ascending the Kartse la it’s easy to descend to our next stop for the night at Gyamar.

Day 8:

Gyamar to Yalung Nyau La (5,430m/ 17,814ft) to Korzok (4,554m/ 14,940ft) trek 6-7 hours

Today you get the first view of the stunning Tsomoriri lake. We start the day by ascending the Yalung Nyau la, it's from here we get our first view of the lake. After thoroughly enjoying the beauty of it you descend towards Korzok village next to the lake.

Day 9:

Korzok to Kyangdam (4,528m/ 14,855ft) trek 6-7 hours

Today you trek along the beautiful lake of Tsomoriri, if you are lucky you will see back naked crane, duck, and several migrant birds. You will also get to see the view of tow famous peaks, Mentok Kangri on the right and Chamser Kangri across the lake.

Day 10:

Kyangdam to Nurboo Sumdo (4,534m/ 14,875ft) trek 6-7 hours

Leaving the lake behind you continue walking gently over the vast plateau. You will see wild ass (Skyang) and Changthang Nomads settlement across the meadows. Arrive next campsite in the evening.

Day 11:

Nurboo Sumdo to Getpa Buzak (4,632m/ 15,196ft) trek 4-5 hours

After breakfast, as usual, keep following the trail as we heed to Getpa Buzak, our camp for the overnight stay.

Day 12:

Getpa Buzak to Tharang Yokma (4,785m/15,698ft) trek 5-6 hours

Today the trail goes up and down, after walking for a while along the Parang Chu river, before it leads us to Tharang Yokma.

Day 13:

Tharang Yokma to Parang La Base (5,083m/ 16,676ft) trek 5-6 hours

It's a nice walk today trekking through a huge green grassland to the starting point of the Parang La, where you camp for the night at Parang La base.

Day 14:

Parang La Base to Parang La (5,580m/ 18,307ft) to Thaltak (4415m) trek 6-7 hours

You start your way climbing up the Parang La, the highest point of the trek, being the topmost area on the trek it does live up to it. It offers us an amazing view of the Spiti Valley, you continue to trek toward next camp, from Parang La it’s a steep descent to Thalktak.

Day 15:

Thaltak to Kibber (4,105m/13,467ft) trek 5-6 hours

As compared to other days today will be easy. It will be the last day of your amazing trekking, crossing the pass you follow the trail that leads us down to Kibber, it will also be your last night camping. Kibber is one of the highest motorable village in the world, situated in a narrow valley surrounded by spectacular huge snow-capped mountain from all side.

Day 16:

Kibber drive kie to Losar (4,085m/ 13,402ft) 135 km 6 hours

Today our driver will come to pick you up at the campsite and drive to Kie, visit the interesting monastery located on a hilltop founded in the 11th century. Later continue drive to Losar village considered to be the first inhabited in Spiti Valley. Upon arrival check into your first hotel after 14 days and take a refreshing long bath.

Day 17:

Losar drive Manali 148 km/ 8 hours

After breakfast drive to Manali. Enjoy the spectacular and splendid view of the enchanting valleys and landscape on the way. Lunch will be provided on the way at some eatery point or pack lunch will be arranged from the hotel. Arrive Manali in the evening.
